The Flying Chaucers

The Flying Chaucers provide new fusions for the world music genre.

Michael Shakespeare and Johnny French demonstrate the application of classical violin techniques to a range of European music from Ireland to the Russian Steppes.

Christopher Evans on melodeon provides a vital drive to the group with the development of rhythmic structures which encompass the French and English traditions. These are sensitively located within Mel Wright's percussion  rhythms which are redolent of African Blues - Beat style. Finally, the electric rhythms applied by Grapheme Hood's acoustic guitar and Appalachian dulcimer complete the format that is The Flying Chaucers

Les Elvin – guitar / bass / bazouki

Christopher Evans - melodeon / whistles

Sarah Pavey - caller / flute / whistles

Michael Shakespeare - fiddle / mandolin

Mel Wright – percussion
