Better in Camden - Art, Freedom and Creativity for over 60’s women.

Ageing Better in Camden is a partnership of older people and agencies in Camden working closely together to tackle the social isolation and loneliness that many older people in the Borough experience. Camden’s diverse communities are at the heart of the Ageing Better in Camden approach and now are working in partnership with Henna Asian Women’s Group.

Our Art, Freedom and Creativity project will allow:

· Older women, at risk from or experiencing social isolation become more involved in their communities, and provide stronger support to each other

· Older women will experience less social isolation as a result of participation in our Art, Freedom and Creativity project

· Older women to be more engaged in their design and delivery of our Art, Freedom and Creativity project

Ageing Better in Camden has identified that there is a need for an increased number of supportive activities for older people over 60 available across Camden. We are therefore running a two-year activity programme to deliver a range of activities.

This two-year programme will provide 6 weekly workshops.  The workshops will include activities such as Gardening, Singing, Creative Writing, Painting, Exercise, Cooking, I.T sessions, Crochet, Memory Lane storytelling and Tile Mosaic.

Alongside this we will be taking the participants on a variety of outings. The variety of outings will include Art galleries, Parks, Beaches, Theatre, Boat trips, Zoo, British Museum, Sky gardens, Tower of London and many more. This project will also hold quarterly forum meetings to receive feedback on any project concerns or changes that the beneficiaries would want.

The workshops will take place every Thursday morning and the outings will take place on Saturdays. If you are interested in joining this programme then please call Henna’s office on 0207 3729860 or you can email Henna staff on info@hennaorg.co.uk.
