for the next step - Meditation.
Meditation, students bring the activities of the mind into focus resulting
in a 'quiet' mind. By designing physical poses and breathing techniques
that develop awareness of our body, Yoga helps us focus and relieves us
from our everyday stress.
Henna runs twice weekly yoga classes.

this service, ladies have become healthier with reported reductions in
weight, blood pressure and overall increase in stamina. Importantly, the
ladies who access this service regularly have benefited from forming a
firm social network that provides them with much needed confidence,
reduced isolation and a good laugh.
the exercise and the friendships formed through the classes, overall
mental health of women has improved. The exercise classes form part of the
Bridging Project where through the confidence gained through exercise,
members learn about diverse activities and services that they then begin
to access. Members accessing exercise are now using services as diverse as
the IT classes, swimming in Leisure centres, improving their English
skills, numeracy skill development and some have begun volunteering.
Slow Chair-based exercise
in our Monday Clubs has been to improve health as a majority of our
beneficiaries suffer health problems of some nature. We have linked
service provision with health information given to us by members in their
membership forms. This has proven successful as turnout at each of the
information sessions has been excellent with members fully engaged with
the Monday Club we have started to provide weekly slow chair-based
exercise sessions. These sessions are tailored around the age group that
attends our Monday club. Our service users have stated that they are
extremely enjoying these sessions.
hold a forum meeting within our Monday Club to get a better understanding
of what other services might be beneficial for all our service users. Our
service users stated that they wanted to get out and about more. Raf has
introduced days out to visit scenic parks in and around our local areas.
This service will continue every month for everyone to enjoy the rich
greenery we have around us which goes unnoticed due to our busy daily
take advantage of exercising your body in the form of slow walking in a
group. We will be taking many breaks so don’t feel you won’t be able to
keep up as it will be according to a pace that suits all. We will be
taking buses to get to the places we visit, once we arrive at our
destination we will be walking. Please remember to wear loose clothing
and comfortable footwear.
