International Women’s Day
Henna celebrated the 100th International Women’s Day with great festivity
with over 50 ladies enjoying a delicious buffet lunch, mehendi, massage
and stalls selling products created by our members. We had dancing, yoga
demonstrations and make up makeovers. Overall, a fabulous fun day enjoyed
by all who attended.

Annual Mela
Our Annual Mela (festival) was celebrated on Saturday July 23 2011, it was
a fun-filled family event. Nearly 60 people came to enjoy the delicious
food, dancing and children’s activities
Eid and Navratri
Henna is unique in that we bring the Hindu and Muslim communities together
and one of the ways we do this is by celebrating Ramadan Eid and Navratri
annually. After a month of fasting, Muslim women look forward to our
annual celebration of Eid where they either cook together at the centre or
bring food for the feast. The Hindu ladies celebrate Navratri where they
do their rituals and make offerings. We use these events to raise funds
for those less fortunate then us; this year we collected funds for the
East Africa famine.
Annual General Meeting and Christmas Party 2011.
Henna hosted our Annual General Meeting along with our Christmas Party in
December. This was well attended by our members. New trustees were
appointed; members and staff alike celebrated our successes of 2010-2011.
